At the end of the road, on the beach, the Door of No Return marks the place associated with the forced embarkation of captives onto slave ships.

The monument was inaugurated on 30 November 1995, during the International Year for Tolerance, by President Nicéphore Soglo, UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali and UNESCO Director-General Federico Mayor.

It lies just over 3 km on foot from Place Chacha. Many people stay a long while, facing the sea.
